Mercy on the Hard Road

What a blessing crisis can be. What a blessing need can be. Mercy, shattering mercy. Grace, amazing grace. Those curses which produce a hunger for God again, which cause us to remember the wine from God’s vineyard and fellowship with our Father. How deep the cobblestone is on the road back home. How sharp and painful yet unbelievably glorious. You see, the prodigal son didn’t just receive grace from his fathers arms but from every unsatisfying end on his journey. What sought to deprive him ended up being the thing that revived him and if we are honest don’t we need reviving, too? Dear wanderer, lift thy face, for though the journey has been hard, your Father waits for thee.
