Holiness is not just dealing with the sin that is apparent in our life. It is, furthermore, cooperating with God to excavate the sin that is not apparent. The man who is set on true holiness may not be fully aware of all the sin in his life but he is fully aware that he is unaware and this eats him up. He is the spiritual archaeologist. The man who digs because the thought of leaving things buried, which later prove to hinder his union with Christ, is simply repugnant.
