You are my prize

Perhaps if the Israelites had realized that the true gift of God was not the promised land but His Presence then they would have never wandered in the desert for so long. But isn’t this a lesson we need learn, too? That fellowship with Him is the true prize of heaven, not a place called heaven. Even the wealth of His promise is wasted if that’s all we leave Egypt for. It may not be an easy thing to say but aren’t we far better off in the desert with His presence than in the land of milk and honey without It?
Lord, you know my flesh longs to feed in the lush pastures of abundance and ease but arising within me, and I trust others as well, is the desire to be with you where you are: Even if that place is dry and arid and lonely. You are my prize, Jesus, I desire no other.
